Why practice?

Ever ask yourself, “Why practice?” a.k.a. “What’s in it for me?”

I hope that most piano students are at their lessons because they want to learn. But in case you ever thought that your parents were torturing you with piano lessons, the good folks at encoremusiclessons.com came up with this wonderful infographic about what piano lessons means to you, your body, and your brain. Here’s visual proof that piano lessons are good for you!!

I know personally about the benefits of playing a musical instrument but I never saw all this information collected, carefully researched and drawn into one stunning visual pamphlet like this. The pamphlet addresses this question of “Why practice?” that every student runs into now and then. It’s always nice to know the potential long-term benefits and payoffs of diligent, concentrated, every-day practice.

Check out the cognitive, emotional, and social benefits of playing piano. I love the part that takes into account all the different tasks your body is doing while you are playing piano! Take a look at the famous people that used to take piano lessons. By no means a complete list, but interesting to know who also suffered through took piano lessons. And don’t forget the awesome research about piano and it’s connection to success and intelligence…

So “Why Practice?” Because it will make you smarter, more beautiful, and more successful!  ;-P

Kind of makes you want to run out and practice, doesn’t it?
